- About the Album:
- Breathe is the vibrant 2026 contemporary jazz album by the New York-based, Japanese-born jazz pianist and composer Miki Yamanaka. Released via the Cellar Live label, the record showcases Yamanaka expanding the sonic palette of her tight-knit core trio by adding the expressive horn textures of Nicole Glover on tenor saxophone as special guest. The album's cover—featuring Yamanaka donning a contemporary, modernized kimono with sunglasses—perfectly encapsulates the musical philosophy of the record: deeply rooted in hard bop, post-bop, and soul jazz traditions, but filtered through a distinctly modern, fresh sensibility.
