- About the Album:
- Evolution is a pivotal 2004 jazz album by the American vibraphonist and marimba player Stefon Harris, recorded alongside his band, Blackout. Released in 2004, under the legendary Blue Note Records label, the album marked a significant shift in Harris's discography by blending traditional post-bop jazz with modern R&B, funk, pop, and hip-hop sensibilities. Rather than sticking strictly to acoustic mainstream jazz, Evolution seamlessly bridges acoustic and electric instrumentation to capture a progressive, groove-oriented contemporary sound.
